If you think comic books are for kids only, you\u2019re wrong. And when I say this, I\u2019m not talking about collectibles or expensive full collections that will hold value overtime. I\u2019m talking about modern comic books, more like novels with a bit of color.<\/p>\n

The genre is relatively limited from many points of view, but it seems to gain more and more notoriety. Basically, you have a novel, but it\u2019s written in the classic comic style.<\/p>\n

Forget about Superman, Wonder Woman or Batman, but new heroes who you\u2019ll fall in love with immediately. With these thoughts in mind, here are a few funny comic books that will hook you in straight away.<\/p>\n

What Are The Most Wanted Humorous Comic Books?<\/h2>\n<\/a>\r\n\r\n\n

Madam Rhino \u2013 Troubled Waters, by Chris Lewis (2023)<\/h3>\n

This book follows Adisa<\/a>, a secret agent who got recruited in her 80s. It sounds weird, but who\u2019s gonna suspect an old quiet lady of being a secret agent? It\u2019s the perfect scenario.<\/p>\n

Anyway, she gets a mission from the Bridge Club, which implies going on a cruise. But obviously, nothing works like planned when she finds out her entire family decides to join her as well.<\/p>\n

Now, she needs to play two different roles while trying to complete the mission, which by the way, implies bringing global peace.<\/p>\n

The agent has to fight more misconceptions. First, she struggles a little as a secret agent. She can\u2019t do all the James Bond moves or fight criminals physically. Second, she\u2019s a retired black woman, which means even more misconceptions.<\/p>\n

But obviously, nothing works like planned when she finds out her family decides to join her as well.<\/p>\n

This is one of those funny graphic novels with a twist. Apart from the attractive storyline, there\u2019s one thing I\u2019ve learned from it. Age is nothing but a number.<\/p>\n<\/a>\r\n\r\n\n

Adulthood Is a Myth, by Sarah Andersen (2016)<\/h3>\n

This is the first volume in a longer series and trust me, you\u2019ll find yourself in each of these pages. It describes Sarah\u2019s life, but with all the ups and downs that we all go through.<\/p>\n

Get ready to laugh at every situation, remember some of the things you\u2019ve been through and basically enjoy a modern lifestyle explained through funny comic books.<\/p>\n

Whether it comes to wasting weekends on the Internet, holding hands with a nice guy or dreaming all day about going home, this book describes a plethora of awkward situations that anyone can enjoy.<\/p>\n

And while it may look like an autobiography, it\u2019s not.<\/p>\n

On a more serious note, I\u2019ve understood that everyone deals with introversion, self consciousness and body image issues at times, so the book is totally relatable.<\/p>\n<\/a>\r\n\r\n\n

I Hate Fairyland Volume 1, by Skottie Young (2016)<\/h3>\n

This book has an incredible storyline. It feels like a mix between different classics because there\u2019s a bit of everything in it. Alice in Wonderland? Deadpool? These are only some of the references I can give out, without spoiling it.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the story follows Gert. She\u2019s 43, but she\u2019s stuck in a kid\u2019s body. To others, she\u2019s only six years old. And as if all these were not enough, this kid is also stuck in a magical world for about 30 years now.<\/p>\n

Now, she\u2019s trying to escape. After all, she\u2019s an adult and she just can\u2019t be bothered with this Fairyland. So said, so done\u2026<\/p>\n

She has a giant axe and she\u2019s ready to smash anyone who\u2019ll try to stop her.<\/p>\n

I know, it sounds a bit childish, but there\u2019s plenty of humor in it and a few adult references that kids won\u2019t really understand. It\u2019s the kind of book that made me laugh obnoxiously, but I\u2019m warning you, you\u2019ll need an immature sense of humor to get it.<\/p>\n<\/a>\r\n\r\n\n

Sheets: 1, by Brenna Thummler (2018)<\/h3>\n

Read this book and you\u2019ll end up looking behind your back whenever you hear something around you. Oh, and also, you\u2019ll feel obsessed with clean laundry. Or at least that\u2019s how it made me feel\u2026<\/p>\n

There are two stories here. First, you have Marjorie, who feels like an actual ghost. She\u2019s only 13 and she works in her family\u2019s laundry business. She needs to deal with all kinds of bad customers and her life feels miserable.<\/p>\n

Then, you have Wendell, who\u2019s an actual ghost\u2026<\/p>\n

I won\u2019t provide any spoilers, but get ready for an adventurous experience once these two worlds collide.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a funny comic book, but it also shows you that there are always second chances in life. It\u2019s about unusual friendships and the possibility to look back into your past and make fun of situations that seemed impossible back then.<\/p>\n<\/a>\r\n\r\n\n

Hyperbole and a Half, by Allie Brosh (2013)<\/h3>\n

This is one of those funny graphic novels that can become extremely serious and helpful at times. I\u2019ve read it while going through a difficult period in life and I must admit it helped me a lot.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s got plenty of funny stories and even when things get serious, they\u2019re related in a quirky way. From dog stories to cake addictions, the book has everything.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s written from a personal point of view and includes both highs and lows. One second it makes you laugh, then it makes you feel sad.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not sure how to put it… This is a book about depression, but it\u2019s not depressing. Instead, it\u2019s funny and exciting. It warms you up and it makes you understand that there\u2019s much more to life.<\/p>\n

I found myself in the story quite a few times and I believe some parts are fully relatable to anyone out there.<\/p>\n

Final Thoughts on Comic Books with Humor<\/h2>\n

Bottom line, I can probably go on a bit more with these funny comic books. There are quite a few good titles out there and not only are they funny, but they\u2019re also easy to read and fascinating with the modern mix of classic comics and solid story lines.<\/p>\n

The above mentioned titles can certainly put you in a good mood and open your appetite for this genre. Some of them are part of longer series. In fact, that\u2019s why I recommend them. I believe you\u2019ll fall in love with the characters and you\u2019ll want more.<\/p>\n
